About Jackie

Painting

Jackie has been a children’s book writer for most of her adult life (see below), and came to painting in her later years. She is primarily a watercolor realist and has a deep love of nature, history, and architecture, all of which figure prominently in her art. Using watercolor on paper, she strives to capture the intimate relationship between man, nature and art that she sees all around her in the picturesque New England countryside.

Writing

Jackie is the award winning author of over 3 dozen books for children and young adults, including, If I Had One Wish, which became the Disney Channel original movie, You Wish. (Watch it on Disney plus.) Her Dragonling fantasy series for young children was just reissued for a new generation by Simon and Schuster after almost 30 years in print. Jackie’s books have been translated into many languages, and her serialized novel, The Liberty Pole, originally published in The Boston Globe, has been syndicated in newspapers throughout the country for use in curriculum. In her own words, “I find many similarities between writing and painting. Just as characters come to life and take on lives of their own, so do paintings. I particularly love the spontaneity of watercolor. You never know exactly what the paint will do, and therein lies the magic!”
