Joan Steinmeyer
Joan works in watercolor, oil and pastel. Her favorite subjects are landscape, flowers, animals,
people, and seascapes. Her major awards include a Massachusetts Arts Lottery Grant for
Botanical Watercolors, Academic Artists Association First Prize Graphics, and the United
States Coast Guard George Gray Excellence Award.
"Art for me is very much tied to close observation of the things in nature. Seeing color, form
and the effects of light in the physical world, as well as the essence of my subject, is what I
strive to express."
